BACHELOR CHEF GETS A HIGHEND KITCHEN UPDATE

Chris was another perfect client. He provided great input on the style that he loved which was greatly inspired by the type of cooking he does (North African). It was equally important to provide ample areas to showcase his collectibles, so I designed spaces that included floating shelves and glass cabinets.

I used wood and blue painted cabinet combination to add interest, break up the run of cabinets and give it a Mediterranean flare. A fantastic granite countertop augmented the entire design and we highlighted its beauty by taking up the backsplash.

ANOTHER DREAM KITCHEN MAKEOVER

OLD AND OUTDATED TO NEW AND INSPIRED

I was brought in to give a serious makeover to a kitchen that had seen... a lot. Tucked inside a turn-of-the-century building full of charm (and quirks), the space came with its fair share of headaches—uneven floors and walls, a ridiculously oversized radiator in the worst possible spot, and a bulky chase cutting through one corner like it owned the place. And that was just the welcome party.

BEFORE & AFTER

Using Chris’s inspirations as a jumping-off point (plus a few creative nuances of my own), I got to work. We tackled that tricky chase, dealt with not one but two awkwardly placed windows, leveled the floors, and carved out tons of prep space. We added open shelving and display moments for his favorite collectibles, and made sure the whole space felt welcoming, functional, and totally him. Want to see another blue kitchen? Check out this lovely kitchen renovation tucked away in the cozy woods.

FINISHING TOUCHES

Every detail in this kitchen was chosen to create visual interest and effortless function. The distinctive door profile, streamlined hardware, and floating shelves set a modern, inviting tone. Under-cabinet lighting, thoughtfully always on dimmers, adds both ambiance and practicality, while a striking decorative light fixture anchors the space.

The granite backsplash stands out as a key design feature, and tall, ceiling-height cabinetry gives this small kitchen a surprisingly spacious and elevated feel.

BLING & LIGHTING

Matching tile, cabinet colors and flooring with a remnant granite piece isn't always an easy thing to do. Most often, I like counters to bridge the colors and textures of the whole room. For this renovation, I was able to find some really excellent remnant pieces for the master, powder room and second floor bath.

The granite countertop was a defining element in this design—truly the finishing touch that brought everything together. Its natural beauty added depth and cohesion, grounding the entire space. The installation was no small feat, with careful detailing around corners and wrapping gracefully up and around the windows. But every effort was worth it—the result is seamless and stunning, elevating the entire kitchen with a sense of polish and quiet luxury.

DETAIlS

Floating wooden shelves were the perfect finishing touch in this space. Thoughtfully placed in two areas, they offer Chris a stylish way to showcase his favorite collectibles, including a beautiful collection of Tagine cookers. Beyond their function, the shelves introduce a sense of openness and help balance the abundance of cabinetry, adding warmth and visual rhythm to the room.

FLOATING SHELVES

THATS A WRAP

After and staged

By adding the floating counter and sink, I revamped what was a very dated powder room and showcased these features with an eye-catching backsplash.

We were extremely pleased with the work Adair did for us.

She helped us turn an old 1950's kitchen into a wonderful open space to entertain our friends. When we first thought of turning our old kitchen into a bar, we initially got a design drawn out by the contractor, what a mistake that would have been. Adair completely redesigned the space in ways that we would have never have thought of on our own. We are thoroughly pleased with the outcome and the passion that Adair brought to the entire project.
