Kitchen & Living Room  Renovation

I loved working with Sandra on her kitchen / family room renovation. Even my sub contractors said that she was the perfect client!

Sandra's downstairs boasted somewhat bright orange walls, dated kitchen cabinets, a split level island and very little counter space. Sufffice it to say, she was more than ready for an update.

This is the story of her renovation.

KITCHEN RENOVATION

INTERIOR DESIGN & RENOVATION

Sandra had found backsplash tile that she loved and she knew she wanted black window mullions, that was all that was decided. Once I understood the scope of the work that was to be done, I started the project by putting together a "decor plan" and I selected my contractors, Ebersole Brothers Construction of Mount Joy, PA.

Grey Tile Backsplash

The tile that Sandra chose for the backsplash is an unusual color of grey that had a lot of red undertones. This made it tricky to find a light counter (she wanted a light countertop). I am totally thrilled with the quartzite counter that I found. It has tons of subtle, beautiful veining which is why  I love working with natural products for counters (rather than quartz) :)

BACKSPLASH

I wanted Sandra to have more work space and open up the kitchen. We accomplished this by lowering the 2 level counter. This required moving the electrical and modifying the book shelves on either  end of the island. Sandra, and I, love the bar stools but they were bar height so the team skillfully cut them down to counter height. Now they have a more efficient work and entertaining space.

MAXIMIZING AN UNUSED SPACE

LOVELY LIVE EDGES

Sandra wanted live edged wood somewhere in the new kitchen. To balance this accent I had the contractors put the live edged counter tops on opposite sides of the room. On one side we put 14" deep shelves above the 40" deep counter and on the opposite wall I had them put the wood counter on top of the oven cabinet. Nice balancing act!

I had been shopping one day and saw a beautiful live edged counter top serving as the check out counter. The craftsman cleverly put their logo on it. So, I took a photo and reached out to them when it was time to work on this project. Sandra and I were able to go to their shop and select the exact piece of walnut that we wanted. Joe and Tyler at The Hammercreek Company were great to work with.

LIVING  ROOM UPDATE

BATHROOMS – FROM DREARY TO DREAMY

"Adair helped me to design a new kitchen that far exceeded my expectations. She perfectly balanced specially made wood counters and shelves with a blend of classy quartzite. The chosen paint colors flowed beautifully  through my kitchen into my living room, and the curtain design was perfect. While I was at work she would meet with the numerous contractors and organize all of the different aspects to the project. This was such a relief!

The highlight was coming home from a vacation to find the kitchen and living room fully completed with vases, pillows and artwork that perfectly complimented the design. She is fabulous! I discovered not only a wonderful designer, but a friend for life. She made this an excellent experience and I plan to consult with her on future projects."

AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF THE PROJECT IS WHAT THE CLIENTS SAY WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE...
